East Boston man killed in pedestrian accident this morning

A 67-year-old maintenance worker was killed this morning when he was struck by a vehicle as he crossed a Cambridge street.

The Edwin H. Land Boulevard pedestrian accident was around 5:15 this morning, law enforcement officials said.

The East Boston man had just gotten off of work for a cleaning company that is contracted by the Royal Sonesta Hotel. He was headed home, officials said, when he was struck by a 2006 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 40-year-old Cambridge resident.

The driver was not injured.

Massachusetts State Police are investigating the accident with crime units, detectives and accident reconstruction specialists.

No charges have been filed against the driver.

In an unrelated incident, police say they have been able to ID two brothers injured in a Buttermilk Bay hit-and-run pedestrian accident last weekend.

The brothers are a 27-year-old from Wareham and a 30-year-old from Carver. Both suffered severe injuries in the crash, with the 27-year-old listed in critical condition at a Boston hospital afterwards.

A law enforcement spokesperson said the brothers were walking with a 26-year-old man and a 31-year-old man -- both from Buzzards Bay -- when the brothers were hit by a passing car.

The car did not stop after hitting the men, police said, but it did return to the scene a short time later, rolling slowly by as the victims were being tended to.

Soon afterwards, police received a call from a Buttermilk Bay woman who said her son had been in the accident. He was later arrested in the case.

Anyone injured in a pedestrian accident should speak with an experienced personal injury attorney about their legal options before signing any agreement with an insurance company.
