Latest in Massachusetts auto accidents leaves man and dog injured

Many people enjoy outdoor activities in the company of their cherished four-footed companions. These same people may never consider that their lives could be abruptly altered after being involved in auto accidents. However, Massachusetts residents can become victims to one of these collisions whenever they leave their homes to exercise or enjoy their regular activities.

Recently, Massachusetts police responded to the scene of an accident involving a bicyclist, his dog and a motorist. According to the report, the man was biking along the street, and his dog was traveling alongside the bicycle. A man who was traveling in the west lane of a local route struck the pair. The bicyclist was initially transported by ambulance to a local hospital; however, he was later taken by air to a medical facility better equipped to treat his injuries.

The man suffered injuries to his lower torso and back which, while not believed to be a threat to his life, were still serious enough to require specialized care. The dog was also taken for treatment for what was described as minor wounds. The driver was not injured in the accident.

Massachusetts authorities have not completed their investigation into this accident and have not commented beyond the statement that the area was not illuminated and the collision did occur in the twilight hour. It is not clear whether the driver will be criminally charged. Auto accidents are no respecter of persons and the victims of these wrecks are often left with life-changing injuries that can be compounded by the monetary damages that are incurred. If enough evidence suggests that the driver can be considered culpable, then the victim may choose to file a personal injury suit against the driver in order to seek financial redress for his medical expenses, time off work and other accident-related costs.
