Allegedly negligent motorcyclist injures self, 1 other

Typically when a car and a motorcycle are involved in an accident, the motorcyclist is the driver with more serious injuries, but is not the one who caused the accident. Recently on Pine Hills, just outside of Manomet, a motorcyclist lost control of his bike and was in a collision with a sedan. In this case, the motorcyclist seems to have caused the accident that resulted in serious personal injuries for the biker, and less serious injuries for the driver of the sedan.

The accident reportedly took place at about 7:15 in the evening. Prior to the accident, a police officer witnessed the biker passing several cars in the Manomet traffic. The officer followed the motorcyclist for a while but then fell too far behind. Shortly afterwards, the 41-year-old motorcyclist from Bourne lost control of his bike and slid into a sedan driven by a 48-year-old woman from Sagamore Beach.

Both drivers were injured in the crash. The 41-year-old had serious head and leg injuries and the 48-year-old woman had injuries that were simply described as serious. Both were transported to a South Shore Hospital.

In this particular case, the motorcyclist appears to have been negligent by losing control of his bike. When the 41-year-old recovers from his injuries, he is expected to be charged with negligent driving and driving after a license suspension. The reason for his license suspension was not reported.
