Massachusetts car accident kills 2, injures 2 more

Driving can become a dangerous action for the driver and others on the road if someone becomes distracted while behind the wheel. Accidents caused by negligence often cause serious injuries and even fatalities. Unfortunately, the apparent negligence of one driver in Massachusetts tragically caused two fatalities and injured two other people in a recent car accident.

A 21-year-old man is said to have caused an accident in mid-September when he apparently ran a red light and crashed into a car with four occupants. Emergency personnel arrived shortly after the accident occurred and proceeded to use the Jaws of Life to pry open the door of the car and rescue those inside. All four were taken to Baystate Medical Center. Tragically, two of them -- both 23 years old -- were pronounced dead at the hospital. The other two were reportedly in stable condition.

When police arrived on scene, the driver that appears to have caused the accident and his passenger had fled the scene. It was not reported if the passenger suffered any injuries. The driver was arrested for two accounts of vehicular homicide, and the investigation of the accident was still in progress.

Even if the Massachusetts man is not found guilty in criminal court, the families of the two deceased victims may seek monetary damages for the two tragic car accident deaths. If compensation is awarded, it could be used to pay for any final expenses and other damages permissible under our wrongful death laws. This could allow the family to focus on coping with their tragic losses instead of worrying about any new bills. In addition, those seriously injured have the right to pursue claims for reimbursement of their financial losses.
