Massachusetts woman killed in recent pedestrian accident

Pedestrian accidents are often horrific and violent, and sometimes even fatal. A life can change in mere seconds, particularly when a motor vehicle is involved. Unfortunately a pedestrian accident took the life of an elderly woman recently in Massachusetts.

On Aug. 21 a car operated by an 81-year-old man veered into oncoming traffic in Ludlow shortly before 9 a.m. It struck another car and proceeded onto the sidewalk, hitting and killing an 86-year-old woman. According to police, the woman was dragged by the car until the vehicle finally hit a pole and came to a stop. Bystanders then tried to perform emergency medical treatment until paramedics arrived shortly after the accident occurred.

Once medical personnel arrived, the woman was transported to Baystate Medical Center for life threatening injuries. Tragically, she did not survive her injuries. The driver that is said to have caused the accident was also taken to the medical center for minor injuries. He has been banned from driving and his license was revoked by the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles as a danger to the community. The accident is still under investigation by local police.

Once investigations are completed for the pedestrian accident by the police, the family of the deceased Massachusetts woman may choose to seek reimbursement of financial damages occasioned by the loss of life. If compensation is awarded, it could be used to pay any final expenses that could be burdening the family. This would allow the family to focus on coping with the tragic death instead of worrying about any financial obligations they have accrued as a result of the fatal accident.
