A motor vehicle accident that shut down Quaker Street is under investigation by both local police and the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Accident Reconstruction Team after one person was killed. The accident occurred on Dec. 9 when a Ford F350 truck struck a Nissan Altima from behind. Police later announced that the driver of the Ford will be facing criminal charges.
The incident took place around 2:20 p.m. when the driver of the Nissan slowed down due to a school bus in the oncoming lane. The Ford driver failed to stop while approaching the slowed Nissan. The deceased victim was in the rear passenger seat of the Nissan when the Ford rear-ended the vehicle. The teen was trapped in the rear of the car until emergency responders were able to get him out with the Jaws of Life.
The teenager was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center but he later succumbed to his injuries on Dec. 12. The Nissan driver was also transported to the same hospital. The juvenile driving the Ford truck is being charged with speeding, operating to endanger, a junior operator license violation and motor vehicle homicide.
When a rear-end crash occurs, victims could suffer serious injuries or far worse, and this could lead to several financial hardships as victims deal with medical expenses and lost income. Families who lose a loved one may also be burdened with funeral costs and loss of financial support. With the aid of a personal injury lawyer, it may be possible to recover appropriate compensation when a wreck is caused by another driver’s reckless actions.
