Workplace accident results in fatality

Most people who have traveled this country's roadways have experience with tractor-trailers. While many in Massachusetts may say that tractor-trailers can at times create unsafe conditions for others, the potential safety risks for those who work with such vehicles are often overlooked. For example, one out-of-state man was recently killed in a workplace accident involving two trailers.

The man was working at AAA Cooper Transportation when the accident happened one morning in late January. Reports indicate that the 27-year-old man was attempting to connect two trailers. Unfortunately, he somehow became trapped between the two.

Reports indicate that the worker was able to extricate himself and was talking after the incident occurred. Unfortunately, he later died after being taken to the hospital for treatment. The incident is believed to have been an accident, and an autopsy is scheduled. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration will likely investigate the incident as well.

The family of the deceased man is likely in shock over news of the man's unexpected death. Unfortunately, as they cope with their grief, they may also experience financial complications created by the loss of his wages, hospital costs and funeral expenses. However, all states, including Massachusetts, require employers to provide insurance coverage to protect employees in the event of a workplace accident -- benefits that typically extend to dependent family members in the event of a fatality. However, fighting with an employer and insurance company to ensure that proper compensation is received is often a difficult task for those who are injured or grieving the loss of a loved one. As a result, many people seek the help of an experienced professional to help them negotiate fair compensation.
