Massachusetts hit-and-run accidents: Drivers sought after crash

Movies are known for their death-defying stunts. However, most of these stunts are simply illusions created with green screens and harnesses. Even in the portrayal of hit-and-run accidents, the actors are typically completely safe. Unfortunately, this is not the case in real life. While a recent hit-and-run accident in Massachusetts appeared to be closer to a movie scene than reality, one man is left with serious injuries while police search for the other drivers believed to have been involved.

The accident happened on a Massachusetts Interstate one night in June. A witness claimed that a motorcycle and black vehicle sped by him. Soon after, he claims that a second motorcycle flew by him at an estimated speed of 100 mph and that it appeared that this motorcyclist and the driver of the car were chasing the first. The second motorcyclist allegedly drew near the first before intentionally ramming it.

As an apparent result of the hit, the first motorcycle left the roadway before rolling several times. While the witness stopped to help the victim, the other motorcyclist and driver of the vehicle fled the scene. The victim's current condition is unclear, but he was transported by helicopter for treatment. The police investigation is ongoing.

With the increase of surveillance cameras and other technology, it is likely that police will eventually be able to track down the people believed to have been involved in the incident. Regardless of whether the motorcycle was intentionally rammed, the victim could file a personal injury claim once all parties are identified. As other victims of hit-and-run accidents have discovered, a successfully presented claim could result in an award of damages that would provide for medical expenses, lost wages and pain and suffering, among other financial losses.
