Several treated in Massachusetts after being hit by a car
There are many people in Massachusetts who attend auctions in the hopes that they will receive a good deal. However, one recent auction resulted in chaos after several people in attendance were apparently hit by a car driven by an elderly man. Multiple people were reportedly injured and required treatment at a hospital.
Reports indicate that the 78-year-old driver had been hired to drive cars being placed for up for auction that was held one morning in early October. Unfortunately, police claim that he accidentally hit the accelerator instead of the brake pedal, causing him to strike eight people and several vehicles. He eventually came to a stop against a cinderblock wall.
Police report that most of the injured suffered relatively minor injuries. However, one person is believed to have been dragged by the car and required transport for emergency care by helicopter. That person’s current condition and the extent of his or her injuries are unclear at this time. One of the injured victims was the elderly man’s wife, who was reportedly also driving a vehicle at the auction. While no charges have been filed as a result of the incident, it remains under investigation.
Unfortunately, those who have been hit by a car often suffer serious injuries requiring extensive medical intervention. Victims often face a long road to recovery filled with medical bills. In addition to bills, some are unable to return to work, further complicating their financial situation. However, victims of pedestrian accidents in Massachusetts have legal options. An initial consultation with a personal injury lawyer could be the first step toward seeking recompense.
