2 workers suffer serious workplace injury

There are many professions that the majority of people would agree hold a great deal of dangers. While the dangers that soldiers, fire fighters and police officers face may be obvious, many people in Massachusetts may not fully realize the dangers that those who work with heavy machinery often encounter. Unfortunately, a recent accident illustrates these dangers after two workers experienced a serious workplace injury.

The two victims are employees of an out-of-state manufacturer of automobile carpeting. The fire chief who was called to the scene says they received a call one morning in mid-November about two employees who were trapped. When rescue personnel arrived at the scene, the two workers -- one male and one female -- had been freed from the equipment. Unfortunately they suffered serious injuries to the lower portions of their arms.

Reports indicate that the two workers were using a piece of plywood to push a template into the machine. While the exact cause of the accident is still being determined, it is reported that the machine malfunctioned in a manner that led to the accident. The two workers were transported to the hospital, where they are still being treated.

The two workers are likely lucky to be alive. Despite this, the workplace injury each suffered could potentially have a significant, long-term impact on their lives. Many people in Massachusetts who suffer from similar injuries found the path to recovery to be long and painful. Some were unable to return to their jobs in the same capacity, increasing their concerns regarding their financial situation. While those injured at work may qualify for workers' compensation insurance benefits, many find the path to compensation to be complex, prompting them to seek the guidance of an experienced professional.
