Wrongful death claim may be filed in Massachusetts case

A Boston man accused of killing a cyclist is being held on $25,000 bail, according to court records. The man since turned himself in and is now awaiting trial. Apart from the criminal charges, the family of the victim appear to have grounds to file a wrongful death lawsuit in civil court.

The Massachusetts man was arrested in Texas after allegedly fleeing to El Salvador following the accident that claimed the life of a 25-year-old man in Chelsea in June of last year. Even if the man is not found guilty of the charges filed against him, the family of the slain man could file for wrongful death in civil court.

Massachusetts duck boat crash could lead to wrongful death claim

Every year, tourists enjoy the many attractions available in Massachusetts cities. While some people enjoy a simple walk down a historic city street, others turn to options such as duck boats that allow tourists to view attractions from both land and water. Unfortunately, some may be questioning the safety of these boats after a recent accident involving a scooter killed one woman and sent her boyfriend to the hospital. The death of a loved one is never easy news to hear. However, an unexpected death that could have been completely prevented often seems even more tragic. Massachusetts charges could support a wrongful death claim

Many people in Massachusetts pursue paths that are dedicated to others. For example, one nurse trained to run a marathon in order to raise funds for the neonatal intensive care unit for the hospital that employed her. Unfortunately, police believe that her selfless plan was ended when she was struck by a driver under the influence of drugs. While criminal charges have recently been filed against the driver believed to have caused the woman's death, her surviving family members also have the option of pursuing a wrongful death claim in civil court.

As the East Coast has been pounded with snow this winter, major cities continue to function solely due to plow trucks that keep the roads clear. Unfortunately, in some cases the plows cause more harm than good. For example, a woman is believed to have been killed in Massachusetts after being struck by a plow. Her family members could choose to file a wrongful death lawsuit as a result of her untimely death.
