Man Charged in Hit-and-Run: A Greenfield man, Vladimir Sinigur, 55, has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run incident that left two pedestrians seriously injured. Sinigur was arrested on Saturday after allegedly striking the victims with his vehicle and fleeing the scene the previous day, according to Greenfield police.

The incident occurred on Friday afternoon around 3:30 p.m. near Country Club Road and Barton Road. Authorities reported that the two pedestrians sustained significant injuries and were immediately transported to Baystate Medical Center for treatment. Their current condition remains unknown, but the extent of their injuries suggests a long road to recovery.

Sinigur now faces multiple charges, including two counts of hit-and-run with personal injury, one count of hit-and-run with property damage, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. This is not his first run-in with the law, as he appeared on separate motor vehicle charges in Greenfield District Court earlier this month. In September, he was cited for driving an uninsured vehicle and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, which were classified as civil infractions.

The seriousness of these charges underscores the need for Sinigur to face legal accountability, especially considering the harm done to the victims. Fleeing the scene of an accident involving injury is a criminal offense in Massachusetts, and the law imposes severe penalties for such actions, which may include jail time, hefty fines, and a lengthy suspension of driving privileges.

Compensation for Victims

The two pedestrians involved in this hit-and-run are likely facing significant physical, emotional, and financial challenges as a result of the incident. In cases like this, victims are entitled to pursue various types of compensation to cover their losses. This includes compensation for medical expenses, ongoing treatment, rehabilitation, and any long-term care that may be necessary due to their injuries. Additionally, victims can seek compensation for lost wages if they are unable to work during their recovery, as well as for pain and suffering caused by the trauma of the accident.

Massachusetts law allows hit-and-run victims to pursue personal injury claims against the at-fault driver, even if that driver initially fled the scene. The fact that Sinigur has a history of operating a vehicle without proper licensing or insurance may complicate the compensation process, but it doesn’t diminish the victims’ rights to pursue justice.
