Yesterday, 35 people were injured, including nine with possible head or neck injuries, when two MBTA Green Line trolleys collided around noon. According to reports, the collision occurred when a trolley leaving Park Street Station rear-ended another trolley that was standing still at the Boylston Station platform.
Public transportation in Boston should be safe transportation. When a bus is boarded, one should expect that the driver has not been drinking. When a train passes through an intersection, it should do so with the safety of the train passengers as well as motorists or pedestrians near the tracks.

An MBTA spokesperson stated that "With a strong focus on training in defensive driving, the MBTA is committed to providing safe and reliable service on a daily basis. Hundreds of MBTA buses make thousands of trips each day without incident." And yet, an incident happened recently in Boston and several people were injured.
A Massachusetts Bay Transit Authority trolley driver admitted to texting while driving, thereby causing an accident in which nearly 50 people were hospitalized with injuries. There were additional people injured who did not require hospitalization.
Commercial drivers in Boston or elsewhere, have to pass additional certification testing to obtain their special driving certification. Those with a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may also be subjected to more severe consequences if he or she is involved in a drinking and driving accident or is convicted of other types of driving infractions.
