In the latest update regarding the Fatal Stockbridge Hit-and-Run, authorities have identified the victim as 72-year-old Franklin Ripley, according to the Berkshire District Attorney’s Office.

The tragedy occurred early Saturday morning when Ripley was struck and killed, allegedly by Samantha Paige, who fled the scene. This heartbreaking incident has left the community in shock and mourning, as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

The hit-and-run was first reported around 6:44 a.m. when a passerby called 911 to report an “unresponsive male” lying on the side of Route 102, near the 4.1-mile marker. When officers arrived, they discovered Ripley’s lifeless body, tragically marking the end of what appeared to have been a morning walk or commute.

Evidence gathered at the scene pointed to a hit-and-run, with prosecutors soon identifying Paige as the primary suspect. She now faces serious charges, including leaving the scene of a crime and causing personal injury resulting in death.

According to court documents, Paige’s bail was set at $7,500; however, she remains in custody due to an outstanding probation warrant from an unrelated case.

As investigators continue to review evidence, there is the possibility that more charges will be brought against Paige. The Stockbridge Police Department, along with other local authorities, are actively working to ensure that justice is served in this devastating case.

For victims and their families, fatal hit-and-run accidents are not just emotionally painful but financially challenging as well. In such cases, various types of compensation may be available to help ease the burden. This compensation often includes coverage for funeral expenses, medical bills, lost wages, and in some cases, punitive damages.

Families may also be entitled to compensation for the emotional pain and suffering caused by the sudden and tragic loss of a loved one. While no financial settlement can ever replace a life, it can offer crucial support during an incredibly difficult time.
