Worker Trapped Inside Coal-Filled Train Car During Industrial Accident
A 26-year-old worker was trapped in a coal-filled train car in Bridgewater Tuesday morning, sustaining serious injuries. The worker, an employee of Stiles & Hart Brick Co., found himself stuck waist-deep in coal during the incident, which occurred at around 9:05 a.m. Emergency personnel were quickly dispatched to the scene at 127 Cook St. to offer assistance.
Bridgewater Fire Department, along with the Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team, worked diligently to free the workers. Using specialized industrial vacuum equipment, they managed to extricate the man with the help of Mike Flaherty from APC Corporation. Despite their swift response, the injuries sustained by the worker were severe enough that he required immediate medical attention.
The worker was transported by medical helicopter to a hospital in Boston for treatment. While the nature of his injuries has not been disclosed, local authorities have not yet provided an update on his current condition.
Potential Compensation for Victims of Workplace Accidents
When accidents like this occur, workers may face not only physical and emotional trauma but also financial hardship due to medical bills, lost wages, and long-term disability. In cases where a worker is injured on the job, various forms of compensation may be available to cover these costs. Workers’ compensation typically includes medical expense coverage, lost wages, and disability payments. However, in more serious cases involving negligence or third-party liability, additional compensation may be pursued through legal claims.
For the injured worker in this case, the medical bills from helicopter transport, emergency care, and possible ongoing rehabilitation are likely to be substantial. Furthermore, if the injuries prevent him from returning to work shortly, he may be entitled to compensation for lost wages or disability.
