Boston Police Apprehend Suspect in Hit-and-Run Incident Involving Two Pedestrians
Boston police arrested a man Saturday evening following a hit-and-run incident involving two pedestrians. The suspect, identified as 31-year-old Boston resident Dequell Golson, struck the pedestrians with his car before fleeing the scene.
This event marks the latest in a series of charges against Golson, who was already wanted on multiple charges, including strangulation/suffocation, assault on a family member, and kidnapping.
According to a press release from the Boston Police Department, Golson now faces an additional four firearms charges, along with one count each of being an armed career criminal and drug possession. Furthermore, he received citations for two counts of leaving the scene of a crash with personal injury, reckless operation, and failure to display a headlight.
The incident occurred on July 27 around 8:30 p.m. during a basketball tournament at Marcella Playground in Roxbury. Officers assigned to the event reported that a car had hit multiple pedestrians before speeding away. Responding to the scene, officers discovered two victims who had been struck by the vehicle. One of the victims was transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Law enforcement quickly disseminated a description of the suspect’s vehicle, leading to a swift search of the surrounding area. Additional police units soon located a damaged car matching the description and pulled it over. Golson, identified as the driver, was apprehended on the spot due to his outstanding warrant.
During the subsequent investigation, officers discovered a loaded firearm concealed by a loose panel inside the car and found cocaine in a fanny pack Golson was carrying.
