East Bridgewater Accident: Man Allegedly Tried to Run Over People, Spits on Police

In a recent East Bridgewater accident, police arrested a 61-year-old man, Alan Stec, following an alleged road rage incident. According to a statement from the East Bridgewater Police Department, the chaotic series of events occurred near 555 Washington Street on Sunday, where Stec allegedly struck another vehicle and attempted to run over multiple pedestrians crossing the street.

Officers reported that Stec was found in a damaged car, but when they attempted to stop him, he refused to comply. Stec allegedly drove onto a nearby lawn, narrowly avoiding oncoming traffic, to evade police. His erratic behavior continued as he reportedly drove into the backyard of a nearby residence, further refusing to stop the vehicle.

As the situation escalated, Stec allegedly abandoned the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. Officers ordered him to stop multiple times, and when he refused, they deployed a taser to subdue him. Even after being arrested, Stec allegedly spit on the police officers.

Stec now faces 17 criminal charges, eight of which are assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, due to his alleged attempt to run over pedestrians. Other charges include failure to stop for police, assaulting a police officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. Court documents reveal that Stec has pleaded not guilty to all charges.

Additionally, East Bridgewater police confirmed that Stec was initially held on $250,000 bail. However, his bail was revoked the following Monday after prosecutors submitted an affidavit. They argued that Stec had committed the crimes while awaiting trial on separate charges, including malicious damage to a motor vehicle.

Compensation at Stake for Victims

In road rage incidents like the one involving Stec, the potential compensation for victims can be significant. Pedestrians or other drivers who were endangered by Stec’s actions may be entitled to damages for physical injuries, emotional trauma, and property damage.

Pedestrians who were nearly struck or drivers whose vehicles were hit could seek compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and the cost of repairing or replacing damaged vehicles. Emotional distress and trauma caused by such a violent event can also warrant compensation.

The victims in this East Bridgewater accident may have to pursue legal action to recover these damages. Navigating the complexities of personal injury claims can be overwhelming, especially when facing someone with a history of criminal behavior. This is where legal assistance becomes crucial.
