A tragic fatal Mass. crash on Interstate 495 in Andover has left a Lawrence family grieving the loss of Christina Solivan, a 38-year-old mother of three. The accused, Marvin Santos, 36, of Salem, New Hampshire, appeared in Lawrence District Court on Thursday, pleading not guilty to multiple charges stemming from the deadly collision.

According to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office, Santos is charged with homicide by operating a motor vehicle negligently while under the influence of alcohol. The charges also include operating under the influence of liquor (second offense), along with two civil motor vehicle infractions: a breakdown lane violation and speeding.

The accident occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, November 16. At approximately 3:43 a.m., Santos was driving a 2019 Jaguar E-Pace on the northbound side of Interstate 495 when he collided with a 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven by Solivan. The devastating impact took Solivan’s life and shattered the lives of her three children, who are now left to cope with an unimaginable loss.

Compensation at Stake for the Victim’s Family

In tragic incidents like this, families are not only burdened with emotional loss but also face significant financial challenges. Compensation may cover a range of damages, including funeral and burial expenses, loss of income, loss of parental guidance and companionship for the children, and mental anguish. Additionally, surviving family members may seek punitive damages to hold the responsible party accountable for reckless behavior, such as driving under the influence.

Navigating the legal landscape to secure such compensation can be complex and overwhelming for grieving families. This is where skilled legal representation is critical to ensure justice is served and adequate restitution is obtained.
