The 22-year-old woman claimed that she when she was at Fenway Park in Aug. 2010, she lightly bumped up against the closed door of an elevator. The door then apparently opened, which caused the woman to lose her balance and fall down the open shaft. She reportedly fell an estimated 18 feet.
The woman suffered several serious injuries, including a traumatic brain injury. She also suffered back and facial wounds. In addition, she also suffered from damage to her teeth. The victim recently filed a civil suit against Otis Elevator Co. and Fenway Sports Group.
A representative from the Red Sox declined comment beyond wishing the woman well and saying that the elevators are safe. The elevator company has not made any public statements in connection with this Massachusetts premises liability litigation. If this litigation is successful, then the victim may be awarded a monetary judgment that possibly will allow her to continue to receive any medical care she may require in order to make progress in her recovery as well as possibly ease the burden caused by any damages she has sustained from accident-related losses.
