6 vehicles and one jackknifed trailer on Massachusetts Turnpike

On behalf of posted in Commercial Vehicle Accidents on Friday June 21, 2013

Semi-trucks, 18-wheelers, tractor-trailers, commercial vehicles; they have several names, but no matter what you call them they still are very powerful vehicles. A large truck requires a heightened amount of attention to drive. They are powerful and yet surprisingly unstable vehicles. Even a slight movement can cause big problems. Take for example jack-knifing. Slamming on the breaks too quickly can cause the trailer on a truck to skid to the side of the vehicle uncontrollably. This occurred earlier this month on the Massachusetts Turnpike. The accident occurred on June 5 at approximately 9 in the morning. The report was unclear…

Cancer patient receives $200K for misdiagnosis

On behalf of posted in Personal Injuries on Tuesday June 18, 2013

Recent studies have shown that misdiagnosis is a common cause of medical malpractice suits. While the risks associated with an incorrect diagnosis may be significant, even life threatening, one recent case shows that these risks are not only physical, but also psychological. In 2009, doctors at the Central Maine Medical Center diagnosed Wendell Strout with an aggressive form of pancreatic cancer. He was already at stage four, they said, and likely had only months to live. Strout, an animal control officer, took weeks off from his job and agonized over how to take care of his wife after he passed. Weeks passed…

Death in the Afternoon in multi-vehicle Weston car crash

On behalf of posted in car accidents on Thursday June 13, 2013

Many people assume that winter is the most dangerous driving season in areas like Boston that receive snow and freezing rain. It's true, winter driving can be a challenge. However, the fact is that far more highway deaths actually occur in the summer as more motorists take to the roads and are lulled into a false sense of security by the nice weather. This fact played out in a deadly real life scenario recently on the Massachusetts Turnpike. Specifically, a crash occurred on Turnpike's eastbound ramp onto Interstate 95 North. The crash involved three cars, and took place on May 25 around…
