On behalf of posted in car accidents on Tuesday April 30, 2013

A northbound Massachusetts interstate highway was shut down after two separate car accidents left four people injured this past weekend. The accidents about 90 miles west of Boston on I-91 in Longmeadow began when a vehicle struck a guardrail early Sunday morning. After that accident around 3 a.m., a second driver stopped to lend assistance -- and that's when the second accident occurred. State Police in Springfield said a third vehicle slammed into the two stopped vehicles. All three drivers were reported injured, though the extent of their injuries was not disclosed. A passenger in one of the vehicles was also injured,…

A recent ceremony at the State House honored Massachusetts workers who were killed by workplace injuries. The Workers Memorial Day event honored the 32 Massachusetts workers who were victims of workplace diseases or injuries last year. "The people who are affected most are the family members," said the executive director of the Massachusetts Coalition for Occupational Safety and Health. "Their lives are pretty much destroyed from employers ignoring simple safety measures." The 32 work-related deaths in 2012 was a drop from 58 fatalities the year before and 47 deaths in 2010. According to a new study, they are the cause of a much larger number of motor vehicle accidents across the country than was previously understood. Inside the house, parents are grieving the loss of their little boy, just five years old, and little girl, seven years old. The two were found in the black, cold water of a neighbor's uncovered backyard swimming pool. Investigators believe the Long Island, New York, tragedy might well be due to the neighbor failing to erect a secure fence around the pool that would have kept the youngsters safe. Police were called around 3:30 Sunday afternoon by the children's mother, who said her kids had disappeared from…

On behalf of posted in wrongful death on Friday April 12, 2013

The multi-armed, multi-million-dollar member of the team was heralded for its ability to assist in minimally invasive heart surgeries that would help patients recover faster and with less pain. Unfortunately, this same surgical system was recently linked by the Food and Drug Administration to several deaths. And CBS reports that the da Vinci system has been involved in surgical errors and "a few disturbing, freak accidents" as well. The $2.5 million robotic assistant helped perform 400,000 surgeries last…
