Mansfield man suspected of speeding in fatal car crash

Law enforcement officials say they are still investigating a fatal car accident early yesterday morning involving a man from Mansfield, Massachusetts. A Vermont woman was killed in the collision just after midnight in Claremont, New Hampshire. "Speed appears to have been a factor and everything else is under investigation," Claremont's police chief said. Officials said a 29-year-old Mansfield man was driving his Toyota Tacoma pick-up truck on the town's main street when the vehicle swerved into the opposite lane and slammed into a minivan driven by a 42-year-old Vermont woman. She died later in the day of injuries sustained in the collision.…

Parents file suit against preschool over ‘hogtied’ two-year-old

Sometimes parents' efforts to provide the best for their children go horribly wrong. Look at the recent case of parents far from Boston who chose a church preschool for their two-year-old daughter. The California parents have filed legal claims against the school for failing to provide adequate security, among other allegations, after their daughter was "hogtied" by an unlicensed teacher who then sent the girl's mother a photo of the trussed toddler. The little girl was apparently being punished by the unlicensed teacher for failing to sleep during naptime at the Contra Costa County preschool. The parents state in court documents…

East Boston man killed in pedestrian accident this morning

A 67-year-old maintenance worker was killed this morning when he was struck by a vehicle as he crossed a Cambridge street. The Edwin H. Land Boulevard pedestrian accident was around 5:15 this morning, law enforcement officials said. The East Boston man had just gotten off of work for a cleaning company that is contracted by the Royal Sonesta Hotel. He was headed home, officials said, when he was struck by a 2006 Hyundai Sonata driven by a 40-year-old Cambridge resident. The driver was not injured. Police: Massachusetts college student killed in drunk driving crash

A short distance north of Boston sits Gordon College, where students are mourning the loss of a freshman killed by an allegedly drunken driver. The 18-year-old from Middleborough was on Route 44 in southeastern Massachusetts at about two in the morning this past Saturday when the collision occurred. She was pronounced dead at the scene of the Lakeville accident, police said. The other driver, a 23-year-old woman from Middleborough, was driving a Dodge Ram pick-up.
