On behalf of posted in Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents on Monday August 27, 2012

Four 19-year-olds were riding in a 1998 Ford Explorer1998 Ford Explorer. All four were from Plymouth. All four were injured in a car accident, although just one succumbed to his injuries. Many questions arise. What caused the single-car accident? Was alcohol involved? Were the four young men high school friends? How did they driver lose control of the Ford Explorer? The accident occurred at about 9:00 on a Monday evening and by 4:15 the next morning, one of the four died. According to news reports, the Ford Explorer was traveling on Elm Street in Kingston. A Google map shows that there…

Boston area motorcycle accidents claim 1 life, injure 4

On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Friday August 24, 2012

It is not difficult to understand how an accident involving a car and a motorcycle can result in serious injuries for the biker. There is little protection other than a helmet, which some do not wear, and leather clothing. According to the Center for Disease and Prevention Control, the highest death and injury rate for motorcyclists is among 20-29 year-olds, followed by 40-54 year-olds. Separate motorcycle accidents in the Boston area resulted in one death and four injured persons, some seriously. There is more biking season left before winter arrives in full force, so more motorcycle accidents are a very…

What happened in the two-car crash has not yet been determined. One of the drivers involved in the accident was a 17-year-old from Sandown, New Hampshire. He was driving a 2000 Jeep Cherokee when he collided somehow with a 2002 Chrysler minivan driven by a woman. Her age was not reported. The car accident took place at 6:13 in the morning. Haverhill chain-reaction crash causes injuries

On behalf of posted in car accidents on Friday August 17, 2012

Have you ever been driving on a freeway in Boston, when the traffic slows considerably, so you think there is an accident up ahead? You crawl along in traffic and then a short time later, the traffic simply picks up and you're moving at normal speeds again. There was no crash. There wasn't anyone changing a tire. The lanes weren't closed for construction. What you just experienced was the chain reaction that builds when people tailgate and must apply their brakes. It is called a traffic wave. The main cure to its occurrence is to leave ample car lengths between…

4 injured, 1 dies in Braintree single-car accident

On behalf of posted in Fatal Motor Vehicle Accidents on Monday August 13, 2012

In Boston and elsewhere, when there are no witnesses to a single-car accident, accident reconstruction experts are sometimes used to help determine the timing and nature of the events which led to the accident. The reconstruction expert would attempt to discover the speed of the car and whether the driver took proper evasive or defensive actions. A recent single-car accident in Braintree killed the driver and injured four others. All five people were thrown from the Honda Accord, which indicates that none of them was wearing a seatbelt. The 26-year-old female driver from Framingham died after being transported to Boston…

Negligent driver causes accident with motorcycle

On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Sunday August 12, 2012

A 61-year-old motorcyclist was flown to Boston Medical Center after he was in a collision with a car that failed to yield. The accident took place in the intersection of Route 121A and Pillsbury Road in Sandown. Among serious bikers, there is a saying that it is not "if" you will get in an accident, it is "when" you will be in an accident. A serious biker will tell you that there is a well-deserved lack of trust for the behavior of motorists who often miss motorcycles in their blind spots or make driving errors that cause the motorcyclist to…

Allegedly negligent motorcyclist injures self, 1 other

On behalf of posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Tuesday August 7, 2012

Typically when a car and a motorcycle are involved in an accident, the motorcyclist is the driver with more serious injuries, but is not the one who caused the accident. Recently on Pine Hills, just outside of Manomet, a motorcyclist lost control of his bike and was in a collision with a sedan. In this case, the motorcyclist seems to have caused the accident that resulted in serious personal injuries for the biker, and less serious injuries for the driver of the sedan. The accident reportedly took place at about 7:15 in the evening. Prior to the accident, a police…

Hit-and-run driver identified in fatal pedestrian accident

On behalf of posted in Pedestrian Accidents on Wednesday August 1, 2012

Occasionally a news story leads to more questions than it answers. Why was a pedestrian standing in the middle of a Massachusetts highway at 1:15 in the morning? And why would someone strike an object, stop the car, but then leave the scene of an accident? Recently it was reported that a 29-year-old man from Needham was apparently standing in the middle or Route 24 near Randolph when he was struck by a car. The vehicle was driven by a 20-year-old man from Norton. The 29-year-old pedestrian was fatally injured. According to the police, there were people in the area…
