3 injured in Massachusetts car crash

On behalf of posted in car accidents on Tuesday November 11, 2014

Wilbraham police officials reported that three people were injured as a result of a two-car collision on Nov. 1. According to reports, the accident occurred in front of the Wilbraham fire station around 7 p.m.

Investigators allege that a westbound vehicle attempted to make a left turn into a parking lot, instead colliding with a car that was traveling east on the road. Following the accident, officers from both the police and fire departments responded to the scene.

Three people were transported by responding emergency personnel to Baystate Medical Center for treatment of minor to moderate injuries. The crash resulted in the closure of the road for about 20 minutes while police conducted their investigation. Both cars had to be towed away. Following their investigation, police issued a citation to the westbound driver for his or her role in allegedly causing the collision.

When a driver fails to take oncoming traffic into account when making a left turn, a car accident can occur. When this happens, the at-fault driver may be held civilly liable to all people who suffered injuries as a result of his or her negligence. By filing a personal injury lawsuit against a negligent driver, injured victims may be able to recover compensation for both the economic and non-economic damages they incurred. Often, civil lawsuits can result in better damages recovery than simply relying on an insurance claim. Damages may include costs associated with medical treatment, lost income, property damage, needed counseling expenses and other associated costs.
