Car impounded after pedestrian accident in Massachusetts

Human beings have certain responsibilities to one another. Beyond not intentionally causing harm to another person, one who injures another is expected to provide aid for that person. Unfortunately, hit-and-run accidents occur all too often. One Massachusetts teenager recently suffered serious injuries in a pedestrian accident after being struck by a car that then fled the scene. Police appear to be making headway toward finding the driver.

The accident happened just after 9 p.m. in mid-March. Police believe that the 16-year-old boy may have been skateboarding at the time he was struck. The young man was transported to the hospital where he is currently listed in critical condition.

Based on debris found at the scene of the accident, it is believed that the car involved was black and suffered damage to its windshield, in addition to missing a mirror. Police have recently impounded the car they believe was involved in the accident, but, apparently, no arrests have been made as the investigation continues. Anyone who witnessed the accident or has additional information is being asked to contact police.

The exact extent of the young man’s injuries is unclear at this time. Unfortunately, he may face a lengthy recovery, resulting in hospital bills, which could place a financial burden on his family. In addition to bills, family members may have to miss work to care for him, resulting in lost wages. Victims of a pedestrian accident can quickly become overwhelmed with these financial burdens, but a successfully argued personal injury claim in a Massachusetts civil court could result in an award of damages that could provide relief for these financial burdens.
