Doctor on drugs crashes car, injures 1 in Wellesley

There are a few inventions which have revolutionized the way we live and work. One of them could arguably be the computer. A close second might be video and digital recording.

Recently in Wellesley one of the millions of surveillance cameras in the country happened to catch a car accident that seemed to occur in milliseconds. The driver of an SUV is a 56-year-old doctor who was accused of being drunk and on drugs when she crashed her car into another, injuring the other driver.

The accident took place at about 9:00 in the morning near a Whole Foods store. The video of the accident was posted online, and in it one can see the SUV shooting out of the parking lot at what seems like a high speed. The SUV crosses the grass median and the curb before smashing into a white sedan and shoving the sedan into a box truck. The sedan was sandwiched between the two vehicles.

The 56-year-old is a physician at Newton-Wellesley Hospital and is facing several criminal charges. She has been charged with charged with driving while under the influence of drugs and alcohol, driving to endanger, leaving the scene of an accident and possession of class B and C drugs.

In addition to the criminal charges, the 56-year-old could be held liable for the personal injury suffered by the driver of the white sedan. Those injuries were described as not being life threatening although the types of injuries were not reported. The accident is still under investigation.
