Fatal workplace accident reportedly caused by explosion

There are known hazards in life. As a result, people in Massachusetts can strive to avoid them or take other appropriate safety precautions. Unfortunately, there are not always precautions to protect a person. For example, an out-of-state workplace accident recently took the life of one worker and seriously injured another.

The accident happened in mid-April. Investigators say it was caused by an explosion. One person was killed and another was flown from the site after suffering serious injuries. The identities of the victims have not been released, pending notification of family members. Reports indicate that several other employees suffered minor injuries in the incident and received treatment at the scene.

The accident occurred at MagneGas Corporation. While investigators, most likely including representatives from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, work to determine the cause of the accident, some neighbors claim that it is not the first time such an incident has occurred. In fact, some suggest that the company should consider a different, less populated location in the event that another serious event occurs.

While it is important to determine the cause of the accident in order to prevent future incidents, it is equally important to remember those who are suffering as a result. The family members of the deceased victim are likely still coming to terms with the news, and the injured employee is likely wondering about his or her prognosis and whether a return to the workplace is feasible. Fortunately, those who have been victims of a workplace accident in Massachusetts may receive financial support through the workers’ compensation system. These insurance benefits can help with medical bills, funeral expenses, lost wages and other expenses stemming from such an accident. Guidance from an experienced professional can help ensure fair treatment throughout the compensation process.
