Massachusetts duck boat crash could lead to wrongful death claim
Every year, tourists enjoy the many attractions available in Massachusetts cities. While some people enjoy a simple walk down a historic city street, others turn to options such as duck boats that allow tourists to view attractions from both land and water. Unfortunately, some may be questioning the safety of these boats after a recent accident involving a scooter killed one woman and sent her boyfriend to the hospital. The family of the deceased young woman may be considering its legal options following the accident, including the possibility of filing a wrongful death lawsuit.
The accident happened one morning in late April. Reports claim that the duck boat struck a scooter carrying a male and a female. Following the collision, the scooter is said to have become lodged beneath the duck boat. Both people on the scooter, a female driver and her boyfriend, were transported to the hospital.
Unfortunately, the woman was pronounced dead, while, fortunately, the male victim is expected to survive. Reports indicate that both victims were wearing helmets at the time of the collision. No charges have been filed at this time. The accident remains under investigation, but the company that owns the duck boat, Boston Duck Tours, has released a statement claiming that it is fully cooperating with police.
