Massachusetts teen dead after involvement in rear-end collision

A motor vehicle accident that shut down Quaker Street is under investigation by both local police and the Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council Accident Reconstruction Team after one person was killed. The accident occurred on Dec. 9 when a Ford F350 truck struck a Nissan Altima from behind. Police later announced that the driver of the Ford will be facing criminal charges.

The incident took place around 2:20 p.m. when the driver of the Nissan slowed down due to a school bus in the oncoming lane. The Ford driver failed to stop while approaching the slowed Nissan. The deceased victim was in the rear passenger seat of the Nissan when the Ford rear-ended the vehicle. The teen was trapped in the rear of the car until emergency responders were able to get him out with the Jaws of Life.

The teenager was taken to Milford Regional Medical Center but he later succumbed to his injuries on Dec. 12. The Nissan driver was also transported to the same hospital. The juvenile driving the Ford truck is being charged with speeding, operating to endanger, a junior operator license violation and motor vehicle homicide.
