Massachusetts woman killed during pedestrian accident

Wintery conditions can often have an effect on a driver’s ability to react, but this does not mean that negligence is acceptable on the driver’s part. Crosswalks are supposed to allow pedestrians a safe way to cross the street, however, they can be dangerous if drivers do not recognize them as well. A woman was tragically killed last week in a pedestrian accident in Massachusetts.

The woman who was killed was 77 years old and was a Boston resident. The accident occurred on Dec. 19 when the woman was hit by a 67-year-old man while trying to cross the street in a crosswalk. At first she was responsive when emergency personnel arrived, but she passed away after being transported to a hospital.

The man who struck the victim was driving without a license at the time of the collision. The man was cited after the accident, but had not been arrested as of Dec. 20. The accident is still under investigation, and the man may be facing more charges after the investigation is completed.

Once investigations are completed by the Massachusetts police, the family of the victim may try to seek compensation for the loss of life from the pedestrian accident. Compensation, if awarded, could be used to pay for any of the woman’s final expenses as well as provide the family with a sense of justice. This can often times help the woman heal emotionally and allow them to slowly return to their normal lives after the initial shock is over.
