News: Stolen car crashes near UMass Boston, claiming 2 lives
BOSTON, MA – A 14-year-old teenager lost his life, along with one other person, after a driver operating a 2013 Hyundai Accent, which was reported stolen, crashed near UMass Boston.
This collision happened after 3:15 a.m. Thursday on Morrissey Boulevard, on the northbound side, according to WHDH. Very little information about the crash is available. However, a preliminary report suggested that the teenagers stole a 2013 Hyundai Accent from the Jamaica Plain neighborhood earlier and drove it at a high rate, resulting in this single-vehicle wreck.
Police confirmed that the 14-year-old teenager from Dorchester succumbed to fatal wounds at the scene. Another occupant, an unidentified teenager, passed away at a hospital later.
The three other occupants, also minors, were taken to area hospitals where they are recovering.
Police indicated they found a gun inside the stolen car. Crews towed the wrecked vehicle away. Police have launched an investigation and have not confirmed the contributing factors at this time.
