Pedestrian accident in Massachusetts kills pregnant woman
Fatal accidents are always traumatic, but when the victim is a pedestrian the outcome can be even more devastating. A recent pedestrian accident that occurred in Massachusetts illustrates this point. The pedestrian, who was a woman, was killed on July 21, and to make matters worse, she was pregnant.
The pregnant woman was killed after she was struck by a car. When first responders arrived at approximately 8:45 p.m., the woman was lying on the ground with life-threatening injuries. Emergency medical treatment was given until a helicopter arrived and transported her to Massachusetts General Hospital. It was there that she later succumbed to her injuries and passed away.
The driver of the vehicle that hit the victim, a 46-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene. Numerous charges are expected to be filed against the driver, including vehicular homicide. Stoughton Police, along with the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office and Massachusetts State Police have already finished the initial investigation and recreated the scene, but further investigation of the accident is still underway. Once the investigation is complete more charges may be filed.
The family of the pregnant victim may exercise their right to seek monetary compensation for the loss of life of their loved one in this tragic pedestrian accident. If the family is awarded compensation, it could be used to ease the financial burden that may have been placed on the family by final expenses of the victim. Though no amount of money will ever make up for the life that was lost, it could allow the family to focus on coming to terms with the tragedy.
