Pedestrian hurt in Massachusetts car accident

A 59-year-old man was struck by a Rav4 at 10:50 p.m. on June 11 at the intersection of Route 62 and Route 38, according to police. The car was being driven by a 28-year-old man, and the vehicle was headed south on Main Street when the collision took place. The man was treated on scene by emergency responders and was taken to Beth Israel Hospital via Boston Medflight for further treatment of injuries that were considered serious.

Police say that the driver of the car stayed on the scene and that authorities were looking into the possibility that he may have been texting while driving. However, it was further noted that the possibility that texting may have caused the accident seemed unlikely. He did not suffer any injuries as a result of the crash.

There was no information given as to whether poor weather conditions, speed or driver impairment played a role in the accident. It is unclear if any charges will be filed against the driver as the Massachusetts State Police Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Section continued to investigate the accident.

Anyone who is injured in a pedestrian accident has the right to take legal action against the driver who hit him or her.
