Police investigate fatal Massachusetts pedestrian accident

As Massachusetts and other states thaw out after a difficult winter, it is likely the roadways will have more pedestrians. As a result, motorists must remain especially vigilant in order to ensure that everyone is safe. A recent pedestrian accident, for example, was fatal.

The accident happened at approximately 11 p.m. one night in early April. According to police reports, a 67-year-old woman was struck while she walked near or on the side of the road. She was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced dead.

A 64-year-old woman reportedly with the victim was also taken to the hospital although she was not believed to have been struck by the car. Both women were reportedly staying at a nearby hotel. A 20-year-old woman is said to have contacted police soon after the accident, reportedly saying she believed she may have struck a pedestrian. Her vehicle allegedly had damage consistent with such an accident and was impounded. Although criminal charges have not been filed at this time, the incident remains under investigation.

While police work to determine the exact events leading up to the fatal pedestrian accident, the victim’s family is likely reeling from the news of her unexpected death. Additionally, they may also face financial hardship due to funeral expenses and hospital bills. Many people in Massachusetts who have been in a similar situation have sought relief in a civil court.
