20 injured in Massachusetts DUI accident involving bus

A traffic accident in Randolph on Aug. 12 resulted in 20 people being taken to various hospitals for treatment. The accident occurred in the 1100 block of North Main Street around 10:30 a.m.

Authorities stated that the 30-year-old male driver of a southbound Ford sedan was driving under the influence of drugs when he crossed the yellow line and collided with the northbound Route 240 bus, which was carrying 34 passengers. Photos show that both vehicles involved sustained significant front-end damage.

Twenty people were hospitalized, though none of the injuries that were suffered appeared to be life-threatening. It was not reported if the accused driver suffered any injuries in the crash, but he was taken into police custody and charged with driving under the influence of drugs. It was not reported if he was still in custody later that day.

Those who have been involved in a car crash might have suffered injuries ranging in severity from minor to life threatening. Even if injuries are not potentially fatal, they could result in limited mobility and keep someone from being able to work and earn an income. Additionally, an injured party may face a reduction in his or her quality of life due to injuries that may linger long after the crash took place.
