(nbcboston)–A Boston car accident between a loaded school bus and a vehicle occurred in Barre, Massachusetts, Thursday morning, resulting in the apprehension of the driver on multiple charges, as confirmed by local police.

While there were no serious injuries reported from the incident on West Street, one student was transported to the hospital for precautionary measures, Barre police stated. Visuals from the scene depicted the school bus colliding with a tree, alongside a white SUV displaying significant damage on its driver’s side.

Cedric Cooley, aged 32 and hailing from Orange, was taken into custody and is facing charges including driving on a suspended license, negligent operation, speeding, and reckless endangerment of a child.

Scheduled for appearance in East Brookfield District Court, it remains unclear if Cooley has retained legal representation to address the charges leveled against him.

The Boston car accident, which occurred around 7:15 a.m., unfolded when Cooley’s vehicle veered across the centerline of West Street, also recognized as Route 122, and collided with the bus, propelling it into the road’s guardrail and trees.

In response to the incident, the Quabbin Regional School District issued a statement expressing gratitude towards the Barre Police Department and all first responders for their prompt and compassionate assistance during the situation, noting the involvement of an Athol/Templeton/Petersham School Choice Bus.

As investigations continue under the jurisdiction of the Barre Police Department, the community awaits further updates regarding the aftermath and any additional measures that may be taken.
