Man arrested for causing Massachusetts bus accident

The investigation of an accident can sometimes take an extended period of time, which can indirectly hurt the family of the victim as they wait to find the cause of their loved one’s death. Even after investigations are completed and the person who is supposedly responsible is arrested, the legal system can be a long and confusing road. In Massachusetts, a man was recently arrested for his involvement in a bus accident that killed one woman.

The original accident occurred on Dec. 5, 2012, when the defendant was driving a bus and struck a 62-year-old woman as she attempted to cross the street. Emergency personnel arrived and immediately rushed the woman to a nearby hospital where she passed away a short time later. The man who was walking with the woman was not injured, but he did give the police his statement.

The driver was recently arrested on Dec. 3, after police received a report from the accident reconstruction team. The man is being charged with negligent homicide as well as failure to yield to a pedestrian. The attorney of the man had nothing to say.

The family of the deceased woman may have the right to seek monetary compensation for the injuries that she received from the Massachusetts bus accident. Depending on if compensation is awarded, it could be used to help pay for any of the victims’ final expenses. This can often lift a giant burden off the family and allow them to focus on recovering from their loss instead of new bills.
