Man injured on the job in stable condition

On behalf of posted in Workers' Compensation on Tuesday July 28, 2015

There are many hazards in the environment. Some are known and avoidable. In some workplace situations in Massachusetts, accidents can happen even when a hazard is known and appropriate safety measures are in place. One out-of-state man is now recovering after he was injured on the job.

Many of the details of the workplace accident are unclear. However, reports indicate that emergency responders arrived at Rangen, Inc. in July. An employee had reportedly been injured while using company machinery.

According to reports, the victim’s right arm was severed just below his elbow. He was flown to the hospital for treatment where he is currently listed in stable condition. It is likely that officials will be working to determine the exact cause of the accident in order to prevent similar injuries in the future.

When a person is injured on the job, they are likely faced with medical bills and the loss of wages. Due to the nature of this man’s injuries, it is unclear if he will ever be able to return to work in the same capacity, meaning he may require additional training for alternative employment or long term disability benefits. Because all states — including Massachusetts — requires employers to provide workers’ compensation insurance coverage for employees, it is likely that there are some financial protections in place for this injured man. However, the path to compensation is often complicated, especially for a person already suffering from workplace injuries. An experienced attorney can help those injured at work seek the compensation to which they are entitled.
