Man sentenced for causing fatal car accident in Massachusetts
Car accidents occur every day on the various roads that run throughout Massachusetts. The more severe accidents can leave the victims seriously injured or even dead. The families of deceased victims are often not satisfied with the punishment that is given to the person who killed their loved one. One family in Massachusetts is currently going through this after a woman was killed in a fatal car accident.
The accident occurred on July 20 of last year and involved three different vehicles. Along with the accident killing the woman, four others received injuries because of the wreck. One was the passenger of the vehicle that the deceased woman was driving, two were in a vehicle that could not avoid the wreck, and the final injured person was assisting with the accident.
The driver who caused the July accident recently took a plea deal that consisted of six months in jail and five years of probation. The man told police that he was trying to kill himself when he caused the accident. He intentionally crossed the center line and struck the woman head-on before the accident.
Regardless of the decision of the Massachusetts courts, the family of the deceased victim may have the right to seek monetary compensation for the loss of life from the fatal car accident. Compensation could be used by the family to pay for any of the woman’s final expenses. Compensation can also provide the family with a sense of justice when the defendant is given a punishment that they feel is not harsh enough.
