A two-vehicle collision in Massachusetts sent one person to the hospital on June 27. One of the vehicles involved in the car accident was forced off the roadway and through the wall of a nearby restaurant.

The car crash occurred at about 11:45 a.m. at the intersection of Route 6 and Old Orchard Road in Eastham. A Honda Accord attempted to make a left turn onto southbound Route 6 from Old Orchard Road. The Accord, driven by a 23-year-old man, collided with a Hyundai Elantra driven by a 52-year-old Weymouth resident. The force of the collision caused the Elantra to spin around and sent it into the front wall of a nearby seafood restaurant. An emergency crew transported an unidentified passenger in the Elantra to Cape Cod Hospital in Hyannis in unspecified condition. Police noted that the passenger’s injuries did not seem to be life-threatening. No other injuries were listed in reports.

Police closed part of Route 6 for about an hour, reducing northbound traffic on the highway to one lane while cleanup crews cleared the scene of the accident. The restaurant’s front wall sustained heavy damage, and an Eastham building inspector performed an inspection and cleared the restaurant to reopen. Reports indicated that charges were pending.

People who are hurt in car accidents because of other drivers’ negligence may suffer long-lasting complications including chronic pain or mobility problems resulting from neck, spinal or joint trauma, broken bones and other common injuries. Some car accident victims choose to file suit against negligent drivers, seeking compensation for their injuries, lost wages and other damages. Personal injury attorneys can provide victims with advice on the process of filing personal injury claims.
