Drivers face many risks when they get behind the wheel. While they may logically be aware of the potential for auto accidents, many are unprepared for the financial implications if they are injured as a result of another’s negligence. Three people in Massachusetts may be wondering how they will cope with their medical bills and lost wages after they were seriously injured in an accident that has since led to criminal charges for one individual.

Police reports indicate that a car driven by a 19-year-old male crossed a double yellow line. As a result, his car allegedly slammed head-on into a sports utility vehicle. Police claim that the teenager fled the scene of the accident but has since been arrested. He now faces multiple charges, including assault and battery, leaving the scene of an accident and reckless operation.

The driver of the SUV as well as two passenger in the teenager’s car suffered serious injuries in the collision. One of the passengers was ejected from the car. The accident forced the closure of the road for several hours and remains under investigation.

Even a relatively minor procedure at a hospital can result in staggering medical bills. The amount of care required as a result of serious injuries suffered in auto accidents can quickly become overwhelming. To further complicate a victim’s financial situation, a person is often unable to work while during the recovery period, resulting in lost wages. In the quest for financial relief, many victims in Massachusetts file a personal injury lawsuit. An experienced attorney can help victims evaluate the merits of a case and make decisions regarding the most appropriate course of action.
