Massachusetts auto accidents: Woman suffers serious injuries
There are likely many traffics laws that some drivers in Massachusetts neglect to obey everyday without considering their importance. Unfortunately, when a driver fails to obey a stop sign, for example, such negligence can often result in auto accidents. Police are currently investigating an accident that has left one woman in critical condition.
The accident happened one afternoon in September. Police claim that the driver of a sports utility vehicle failed to stop at a stop sign. As a result, the vehicle allegedly struck a station wagon.
The five occupants of the SUV were treated at the hospital but have since been released. However, the sole occupant of the station wagon suffered serious injuries and required transport by helicopter. A spokesperson for the police claim that the accident was caused by negligence and issued a reminder to drivers about the importance of obeying all traffic signs. Although no charges have been filed, it is possible that the driver could be accused of a crime and/or a traffic violation once the investigation into the collision is complete.
The injured victim likely faces a long path to recovery. While the expense of medical treatment is obvious, she may also suffer from lost wages. Many victims of serious auto accidents are never able to return to work in the same capacity, creating additional financial hardship. As a result, many victims choose to seek relief in a Massachusetts civil court. If claims of negligence can be proved by appropriate evidence, the injured woman could receive an award of damages that may help her cope with the financial consequences of the accident.
