Massachusetts man suffers serious injury after being hit by a car

Pedestrian versus car accidents often have a poor outcome for the person on foot. Recently, a 60-year-old man suffered serious injury after he was hit by a car. Massachusetts police reported that he was transported for possibly life-threatening injuries.

The accident occurred around mid-afternoon as the older man was crossing the street not too far from the CambridgeSide Galleria, a popular shopping and dining destination in Cambridge. The man was struck by a vehicle operated by an out-of town driver. According to the police, the driver stopped and cooperated with authorities.

The road where the accident occurred is described as heavily traveled but is not known to be a dangerous area. Another man was struck and killed last year along the same stretch of road. Massachusetts police have not charged the driver in the latest tragedy at this time, but an accident reconstruction team is still working on the investigation.

The victim hit by a car may have a long recovery, provided he survives his injuries. He and his family may benefit from a thorough review of the accident report once it is completed. Even if the prosecutor does not bring criminal charges against the driver, the man may still have a case for filing a personal injury civil suit (the family would proceed by means of a wrongful death lawsuit should the victim not survive his injuries). If the evidence documents the driver’s negligence, then a successful claim may enable the man and/or his family to be awarded financial compensation that may help with the ever-mounting medical expenses and additional financial damages related to this accident.
