Massachusetts woman suffers head injury from police car

The head is arguably one of the most important parts of the human body. In the event of an accident involving pedestrians, with a vehicle fully armored and the pavement unwilling to give, this can make a head injury all the more terrifying. As one Massachusetts pedestrian found out, head injuries can change everything in the blink of an eye.

A 22-year-old woman was crossing the street when it happened. A police car was en route to a severe car accident and was travelling with lights flashing and siren on. Before she had a chance to finish crossing to the other side, she was hit by the fast approaching vehicle.

The woman was transported to a nearby hospital and was found to have injured a leg and, even worse, had received a head injury from the impact. The police officer was also taken to the hospital and released after his injuries were treated. The accident is still under investigation and, per orders from the local police chief, the accident is going through a reconstruction with a specialized team.

When a pedestrian is struck by an oncoming vehicle, there is usually little to no protective gear, leaving the pedestrian exceptionally vulnerable. In this case, the Massachusetts victim is already dealing with the aftermath of her accident that resulted in her head injury. Soaring medical bills and related injuries that manifest in the future are a startling reality, and while she waits for the investigation to finalize, she might find that a personal injury claim could be a positive step toward recuperating.
