Often car accidents are caused by the negligence of one of the drivers who is involved or by other conditions that cannot be helped. However, some collisions are caused by the negligence of drivers who are not even directly involved, such as if something falls off a person’s vehicle and obstructs part of the roadway. Unfortunately, one such fatal car accident took place in Massachusetts recently.

The accident took place on Jan. 28 at around 3 p.m. and involved two vehicles. According to investigators, a mattress had fallen off of a truck onto the roadway. The victim hit her brakes in an attempt to evade the mattress and was then hit by another vehicle from behind. First responders quickly arrived at the scene of the accident and transported the victim to the hospital where she succumbed to her injuries and passed away.

The other driver who was involved suffered minor injuries from the accident. The truck carrying the mattress did not stop at the scene of the collision and the persons in the truck have not been identified. The accident is still under investigation, and the authorities are asking the public to call with any information concerning the truck.

After the driver of the truck is identified by Massachusetts police, the family of the deceased victim may have the right to seek monetary compensation for the tragic loss of life caused by the fatal car accident. This type of compensation could be used by the family to pay for any of the victim’s final expenses. Although no amount of money can fill the hole that is left after losing a loved one, it could help relieve some of the pressure and stress that can be caused by mounting bills and possible lost wages.
