News: Car Accident, damages LIRR tracks in Suffolk County

WYANDANCH, N.Y. (cbsnews) — Overnight Car Accident: Vehicle Smashes Through Fence, Damaging Long Island Rail Road Tracks in Wyandanch.

Late Sunday night in Wyandanch, Suffolk County, a car accident unfolded as a vehicle crashed through a fence, causing damage to the Long Island Rail Road tracks. The crash led to the temporary suspension of train services between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma as repair crews worked diligently to restore the affected rail section.

Prompt response from first responders included cutting a hole in the fence to facilitate the removal of the car from the tracks. Subsequent to the repairs, the MTA has announced that the Ronkonkoma Line is now operating on or close to schedule.

The cause of the car accident is currently under investigation, and fortunately, no injuries were reported in connection with the incident.
