News UPDATE: 1 additional life claimed after crash near UMass Boston
BOSTON, MA – Massachusetts State Police confirmed another teenage boy passed away this week following a collision near UMASS Boston last Thursday, January 4.
Police told MassLive that the third teenager has been identified as a 17-year-old from Roslindale. His death follows that of one minor who died at the scene, as well as the loss of another teenager who succumbed to his injuries at a hospital. Another juvenile sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
This collision happened after 3:15 a.m. Thursday, on the northbound side of Morrissey Boulevard. Very little information about the crash is available, but a preliminary report suggests that the teenagers stole a 2013 Hyundai Accent from the Jamaica Plain neighborhood earlier and drove it at a high rate of speed, resulting in the single-vehicle wreck.
A gun was also found at the collision site. No additional information has been made available, but an investigation is in progress.
