The Fourth of July this year falls on a Wednesday. That is both good and bad news for holiday travelers. The good news is that it spreads the holiday traffic over more days of the week and potentially decreases traffic jams. At 4:00 in the morning, the roads are relatively empty. Those traveling may be early morning delivery trucks, third shift workers and the occasional traveler. Wrong-way driver in Wareham involved in fatal car crash

Interstate 495 near Wareham, Massachusetts, is a divided freeway. There are few ways to end up driving on the interstate going the wrong way -- and yet that is what happened. News sources revealed that a 26-year-old man was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-495 outside of Wareham, when he hit another car in a head-on collision. The occupant of the other car was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 26-year-old suffered serious personal injuries. UMass student killed in motorcycle accident; driver indicted

A Hampshire County grand jury indicted a 23-year-old woman yesterday after an April car crash killed a University of Massachusetts senior and injured another man. The woman was charged with several offenses including a second DUI, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, manslaughter, felony motor vehicle homicide, and aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The accused was driving her vehicle around 2:20 a.m. on April 14 when she caused the fatal motorcycle accident by hitting the bike driven by the 24-year-old student. Woman injured by alleged drunk driver, dies

A Grafton nursing assistant and home health care aid was injured in a car accident on March 4. The crash was supposedly caused by an impaired driver who was on the wrong side of the street and hit the woman's car in a serious car crash. The 35-year-old woman from Grafton died while being treated for her injuries at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Medical Center. Whether she died of injuries suffered in the head-on collision with the alleged drunken driver, or other unrelated causes, has not yet been determined.
