Wrongful death suit possible after Massachusetts snowplow death

Recent storms have gripped the northeast, and the area continues to be pounded with snow. To help cope with weather conditions, snowplows are taking to the roadways and parking lots in an attempt to keep them clear. Unfortunately, those who operate these vehicles may assume that there are no pedestrians out in the weather, which is often not the case. For example, one woman in Massachusetts is believed to have been killed by a snowplow. As a result, her family could file a wrongful death lawsuit.

The incident happened in early February. Many of the details of the accident are unclear. However, it is believed that a 57-year-old woman was struck by a snowplow.

The incident occurred in a condominium complex during a snowstorm. She died at the scene of the accident. While no charges have been filed at this time, the district attorney’s office and the police department are still conducting an investigation.

While the details of this Massachusetts accident are still being discovered, an accident such as this may be completely preventable. In many cases when a loved one is lost unexpectedly, a family is left financially unprepared. In addition to funeral costs, a victim’s family may also have to cope with the loss of wages. If it can be proved that a person’s death was caused by negligence, filing a wrongful death lawsuit may be appropriate. While a successfully argued case will likely do little to lessen family members’ grief, it may help them cope with the financial ramifications of an unexpected death.
