Accidents can happen at any time of the day. While many occur due to inattentiveness or a driver error, some can actually be a result of a person’s deliberate intent to harm. Police appear to believe that the latter was the case in a recent incident in Massachusetts that sent two women to the hospital after they were hit by a car. A third woman was arrested.

According to police reports, the incident occurred one afternoon on a day in April. Four women were allegedly standing in the street having a conversation. Unfortunately, their discussion is said to have turned into an argument, prompting one of the women to leave in her car. As she left, however, police say that she struck two of the remaining women.

The two victims were transported to the hospital — one of them by helicopter. Following the accident, reports indicate that the driver removed several items from the car and fled the scene. She was ultimately located with the use of a police dog and arrested. She now faces several charges as a result of the incident, including operating to endanger and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

The two women who were hit by a car in the alleged Massachusetts attack may face significant financial difficulties as a result of their physical injuries. In addition to medical bills, they may be unable to work during their period of recovery, if they are ever able to return to the workforce in the same capacity. However, these victims have the option of seeking recompense in court. If they can prove that the driver’s negligence caused their injuries — a claim that would be supported by a conviction of the criminal charges — they could be awarded damages to help them cope with the financial consequences of their injuries.
